Congratulations to Dr. Pradip Kattel!

Dr. Pradip Kattel after his successful Ph.D. defense (second from the right) – October 6, 2025.

We are delighted to announce that Pradip Kattel has successfully defended his doctoral dissertation entitled “Quantum Impurities and Boundary-Driven Phase Transitions in Strongly Correlated One-Dimensional Systems.”
The defense took place on October 6 at Rutgers University.

Pradip’s thesis explored quantum impurity models and boundary criticality in integrable and strongly correlated systems, employing a combination of Bethe Ansatz, field-theoretical, and numerical techniques to uncover new classes of boundary-driven phase transitions. His research provides deep insights into the effects of impurities, edge fields, and non-equilibrium dynamics in low-dimensional quantum matter.

Following his defense, Dr. Kattel has joined Thierry Giamarchi’s group at the University of Geneva as a postdoctoral researcher, where he will continue his studies on strongly correlated quantum systems, non-equilibrium transport, and the interplay of disorder and interactions in low-dimensional materials.

The Andrei Group warmly congratulates Dr. Kattel on his outstanding achievement and wishes him continued success in his future research endeavors!
