Research in Linguistics across multiple subfields has been concerned with dependencies that exist between multiple kinds of elements (e.g., dependencies between anaphors or ellipsis sites and their antecedents, long distance dependencies between phonological features, filler- gap dependencies, and so on).

At Rutgers Linguistics, many of us have been particularly interested in these phenomena. We were pleased to host two separate but related themed sessions unified by the broader theme of “dependencies” at NELS 52 @ Rutgers. Within each, we highlighted one particular type of dependency.

Session 1 (syntax and semantics): Talks related to coconstrual and anaphora

Session 2 (phonology): Talks related to long-distance dependencies in phonology
