I’m Mitch daCosta, a freshman at the School of Arts & Sciences studying Computer Science & Political Science. In high school I served in executive positions in groups such as Science Bowl Competition Team, Key Club, Stage Crew, and others. I also served as a liaison between non-profits and my school, including America’s Grow-A-Row, multiple food panties, North Branch County Library, and more.
I also have a background in advocacy, where I spoke against book banning attempts at my school and neighboring districts. Through larger efforts I was able to raise alarms about the freedom of speech violations happening across the state, eventually working with NJ State Senators & Governor Murphy to pass legislation protecting librarians & students across the state from censorship.
I’m a big fan of dogs, rock climbing, Boy Scouts, running, and guitar. I’m excited to serve as one of the New Student Senators for the new class at Rutgers Newark!
