Hi! I’m Siya Srivastava! I am the At-Large Senator and chair of the SGA Civic Engagement Committee.
I’m a senior majoring in Economics, with a minor in Business of Fashion & International Business. With this, I want to specialize in Merchandising, such as forecasting trends & using a business aspect to help create portfolios for a brand’s next collection.
Within SGA, I want to focus on bridging the gap between the different schools. I’m passionate about hosting initiatives that provide resources and opportunities for students to advance their academic life and promote civic liberty on campus! Specifically, advocating for immigrant voices on Rutgers-Newark through a Know Your Rights Campaign to educate people about their rights and liberties during this current climate. I also want to focus on tech initiatives to offer technology support to students to help them grow in their academics & career!
Beyond SGA, I currently serve as the Treasurer for the MODA Fashion Organization, as well as a debater in the nationally ranked Debate team, where I have participated in tournaments discussing foreign issues amongst students from universities around the world. This semester, I will be participating in New York Fashion Week for the third time as a Public Relations Intern, working with people from Vogue, Conde Nast, & major designers.
I am eagerly excited to serve as your At-Large Senator this year and collaborate with organizations, administrators, & students to enhance equality across the Rutgers-Newark campus for the students.
