For over a decade now, Dyese Davis has been an notable leader and figurehead within the spheres of policy and activism. As the Chief of Staff to State Senator Vin Gopal, Dyese Davis serves as an inspiration to the current and future generations when it comes to making concrete and lasting impacts on the surrounding community.

From a young age, Dyese became hyper aware of the inequality around and became committed to improving the lives of those in her community. Driven by issues relating to policy, advocacy, and social justice, Dyese first embarked on getting involved within the community while attending Neptune High School through her service on the Neptune Township Mayor’s Youth Advisory Cabinet as an Advisor. She later pursued a Criminal Justice degree from Rutgers University and began her legislative career as an intern with the 11th Legislative District Office. Her keen political and legislative acumen resulted in her quickly rising through the ranks at the District Office serving as an Events Coordinator, Constituent Services Director, Deputy Chief of Staff to former Assembly Members Downey and Houghtaling, and finally her current position as the Chief of Staff for Senator Gopal in March of 2020.

Despite it being so early on in her career, Dyese is working alongside long standing leaders in various organizations. As a member of the Board of Trustees for the Neptune Township Library and Brookdale Community College, and the Affordable Housing Alliance among others, Dyese’s eclectic experience brings an invaluable perspective to each endeavor and mission.

While working full time for Senator Gopal, Dyese is currently pursuing her Master’s in Social Work at Rutgers. Dyese is the appointed Chair of the Brookdale Governance Committee and is an alumna of the New Leaders Council. With an abundant portfolio of experience and knowledge, Dyese Davis is a pivotal leader within the state of New Jersey and remains committed to contributing to a better New Jersey.
