There is more than a decade of research highlights the patient-, provider-, system-, and legislative-level factors that influence the implementation of the CDC’s 2006 HIV screening recommendation, but the influence of nurse-level factors in under-explored. Neglecting the role of nurses in the translation of the evidence that supports routine HIV screening may be one of the key drivers behind the inconsistent application of this the CDC’s HIV screening recommendation. The purpose of this survey was to ask nurses, who are often the individuals charged with carrying out the many activities related to HIV screening, about the individual and organizational factors influence whether they perform HIV screening.
