DNP Project Team Member

In addition to teaching in the graduate and DNP program, my responsibilities include curriculum development, faculty development, participation in systematic review activities, mentorship of new faculty and DNP students as well as academic leadership for the Family Nurse Practitioner in Emergency Care program.  As an educator I teach in this program as well as other courses in the graduate and DNP programs.  I am the Co-Director for the Robert Wood Johnson New Jersey Nursing Institute Faculty Preparation Scholar Program funder for $21.3 million, Principal Investigator for HRSA Grant in Women’s Health re-funded for an additional 3 years for $339,000 and the Principal Investigator for the HRSA grant funded for $809,000.00 for the FNP in Emergency Care Program.

During the past academic year I have received the NJ Emergency Nurse Practitioner Award for my work in obtaining grant funding and establishing the Family Nurse Practitioner in Emergency Care Program.  The New Jersey Emergency Nurses’ Association also submitted $5000.00 funding to the National Emergency Nurses Foundation to establish a scholarship in my name which will be for baccalaureate, graduate or doctoral students.  I have continued my work at the national level in emergency nursing by serving on the Advanced Practice work group and the Institute for Emergency Nursing Research.  I continue to serve on the New Jersey Governor’s Advisory Council for Emergency Medical Services for Children.  I continue to speak on many different clinical and leadership topics throughout the tri-state and national arena with a focus on emergency care and emergency care providers.  I have recently been focusing on faculty development programs for the UMDNJ School of Nursing as well as promoting scholarly activities for the faculty related to writing and research.  I am a research manuscript reviewer for the Journal of Orthopedic Nursing and the Journal of Emergency Nursing.
