all three life stages are smaller than 0.2\u201d in length\u00a0\u200b<\/li>\n<li>Adults are oval-shaped, black, and sometimes black and white, with wings\u00a0\u200b<\/li>\n<li>Immature stages are yellow and brown and do not have wings, can resemble aphids or bed bugs\u00a0\u200b<\/li>\n<li>Adults lay eggs which hatch and become adults all in three weeks\u00a0\u200b<\/li>\n<li>Overwinter in dead leaves, bark, trees, etc.\u00a0\u00a0\u200b<\/li>\n<li>Many generations per year, active throughout the entire summer\u00a0\u200b<\/li>\n<li><span data-usefontface=\"true\" data-contrast=\"none\">In the fall, when flowers and pests are less prevalent, they <\/span><span data-usefontface=\"true\" data-contrast=\"none\">may bite humans\u00a0<\/span>\u200b<\/li>\n<li><span data-usefontface=\"true\" data-contrast=\"none\">Bites may cause minor irritation, but are not harmful\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>\u200b<\/li>\n<li><span data-usefontface=\"true\" data-contrast=\"none\">They are often attracted to lighter colors and are more active <\/span><span data-usefontface=\"true\" data-contrast=\"none\">in hotter weather\u00a0<\/span>\u200b<\/li>\n<li><span data-usefontface=\"true\" data-contrast=\"none\">Feed with a straw-like mouthpart<\/span>\u200b<\/li>\n<li><b><span data-usefontface=\"false\" data-contrast=\"none\">Prey pests<\/span><\/b><b><span data-usefontface=\"false\" data-contrast=\"none\">:\u00a0Mites, thrips, whiteflies &amp; other small insects<\/span><\/b><span data-usefontface=\"false\" data-contrast=\"none\">\u00a0<\/span>\u200b<span style=\"font-family: -apple-system, BlinkMacSystemFont, 'Segoe UI', Roboto, 'Helvetica Neue', Arial, sans-serif;font-size: 1rem\">\u200b<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4><strong>Management:<\/strong><\/h4>\n<h5><strong>Fostering Beneficial Insect Populations:<\/strong><\/h5>\n<ul>\n<li>Plant a diverse mix of flowers that bloom throughout the season\u200b<\/li>\n<li>Plant native species\u200b<\/li>\n<li>Choose flowers with ample nectar and pollen\u200b<\/li>\n<li>Asters, yarrow, anemones, milkweed, dogwood, serviceberries\u200b<\/li>\n<li>Plant with organic matter and leaf litter\u200b<\/li>\n<li>Avoid over-weeding \u200b<\/li>\n<li>Allow some amount of aphids to be present\u200b<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h5><strong>Pesticide Impacts\/Considerations:<\/strong><\/h5>\n<ul>\n<li>Insecticides can kill predators &amp;
