data-aria-posinset=\"2\" data-aria-level=\"1\">Symptoms are often subtle and overlooked\u200b<\/li>\n<li data-charcodes=\"8226\" data-font=\"Arial,Sans-Serif\" data-buautonum=\"8\" data-margin=\"450\" data-aria-posinset=\"3\" data-aria-level=\"1\">Early instar stages are\u00a0leafminers, while the later instar stages are\u00a0leafrollers\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u200b<\/li>\n<li data-charcodes=\"8226\" data-font=\"Arial,Sans-Serif\" data-buautonum=\"8\" data-margin=\"450\" data-aria-posinset=\"4\" data-aria-level=\"1\">2+ generations per year\u00a0\u00a0\u200b<\/li>\n<li data-charcodes=\"8226\" data-font=\"Arial,Sans-Serif\" data-buautonum=\"8\" data-margin=\"450\" data-aria-posinset=\"6\" data-aria-level=\"1\">Leafminer stages occur first on infested azaleas, but symptoms are usually not noticed until the later leafroller stages<\/li>\n<li data-charcodes=\"8226\" data-font=\"Arial,Sans-Serif\" data-buautonum=\"8\" data-margin=\"450\" data-aria-posinset=\"6\" data-aria-level=\"1\">When larvae reach the larger stage of development in early June or August, they leave the mines and move out to form the leafroller stages\u00a0 \u200b<\/li>\n<li>By late June, the 1st generation adults have already emerged\u00a0&amp;\u00a0begin to lay eggs\u200b<\/li>\n<li>Adults insert eggs under leaf tissue near the mid-ribs\u00a0\u00a0\u200b<\/li>\n<li>Early instars create blotch or elongated mines\u00a0\u00a0\u200b<\/li>\n<li>Late instar stage caterpillars are \u00bd&#8221; long, and\u00a0usually only a single leafroller will feed per leaf (they create\u00a0curled leaf tips with silk &amp; continue to feed inside the\u00a0leaf cover until\u00a0they pupate)\u00a0\u00a0\u200b<\/li>\n<li>Adult moths are yellowish brown and about 3\/8\u201d in size, with folded wings when they are at rest, and they stand at a 60-degree angle\u00a0\u00a0\u200b<\/li>\n<li>In southern NJ, adults that emerge from the 2nd generation in August will lay eggs and start a partial 3rd\u00a0generation, which overwinters within the leaves as larvae or pupae\u200b<\/li>\n<li data-charcodes=\"8226\" data-font=\"Arial,Sans-Serif\" data-buautonum=\"8\" data-margin=\"540\" data-aria-posinset=\"14\"
