July, as most other soft scale species\u200b<\/li>\n<li>By mid-September, the scales have been undergoing crawler emergence for about a month (Only one generation per year)\u200b<\/li>\n<li>Both scales are found exclusively on woody tissues during all life stages \u200b<\/li>\n<li>Large mature females use their piercing\u00a0 sucking mouthparts to \u200bwithdraw large quantities of sap from the phloem and exude honeydew that grows sooty mold (attracts ants, wasps, bees &amp; other vespids)\u200b<\/li>\n<li>Causes yellowing leaves and premature leaf drop &amp; branch decline \u200b<\/li>\n<li>Largest soft scale in North America\u200b<\/li>\n<li>Oval, &amp; convex in shape, yellow-brown &amp;
