Fauziyya Allibay-Abdulkadir is a community researcher, mom of two, and has lived in Newark since 2020. She has always believed in women having the best share of what society has to offer, and as such, took up the opportunity to be a Rutgers University community researcher. She is a firm believer in the saying “be the change you want to see in society” and working on this project made her a part of that change in her colored community. She was part of the team that developed the methodology for examining Black women’s maternal health in Newark using community based participatory research and helped draft interview guides, conduct interviews, analyze data, and develop recommendations. She has presented the results of the study widely and is a co-author of the two scientific publications that resulted from the project on Black women’s maternal health in Newark.
