Olanike Salimon is a mother of three wonderful kids, feminist to the core with the welfare of women in mind. She was motivated to become a community researcher with a view to making mothers’ voices heard and making their experiences pleasant. She was part of the team that developed the methodology for examining Black women’s maternal health in Newark and helped draft interview guides, conduct interviews, analyze data, and develop recommendations. She has presented the results of the study widely and is a co-author of the two scientific publications that resulted from the project on Black women’s maternal health in Newark.
