{"id":419,"date":"2020-07-10T14:33:24","date_gmt":"2020-07-10T14:33:24","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/sites.rutgers.edu\/nurture-nj\/?page_id=419"},"modified":"2025-10-10T17:18:34","modified_gmt":"2025-10-10T17:18:34","slug":"about-us","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/sites.rutgers.edu\/nurture-nj\/about-us\/","title":{"rendered":"About"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #cc0033\">About the Nurture NJ Evaluation<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/nurturenj.nj.gov\/\">Nurture NJ<\/a> is a statewide initiative to improve maternal and infant health, with a focus on reducing racial and ethnic disparities in health outcomes. This comprehensive initiative leverages policy, funding, and workforce investments to build a safe, high-quality system of care and facilitate supportive community services.<\/p>\n<p>Under the leadership of Dr. Leslie M. Kantor, Professor and Chair of the Department of Urban-Global Public Health, a <a href=\"https:\/\/sites.rutgers.edu\/nurture-nj\/people\/\">team of community and academic researchers<\/a> partnered with the State of New Jersey to evaluate the initiative\u2019s progress towards making New Jersey the safest and most equitable place to have and raise a baby.<\/p>\n<p>Since January 2024, the evaluation team has sought to better understand the impacts of the Nurture NJ initiative. These efforts have included:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Speaking with Black and Latina moms in New Jersey about their pregnancy, birth and postpartum experiences and getting their recommendations to improve experiences for families in the state;<\/li>\n<li>Describing the scientific research that underpins many of Nurture NJ\u2019s legislative policies;<\/li>\n<li>Summarizing the implementation status of Nurture NJ policy and programmatic investments;<\/li>\n<li>Analyzing the impact of Nurture NJ policies and investments on the trajectory of maternal and infant health outcomes;<\/li>\n<li>Examining the ripple effects of the initiative on the maternal health landscape in the New Jersey and;<\/li>\n<li>Understanding the impact Nurture NJ on the perinatal workforce in in New Jersey.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>This website provides a centralized location to access the <a href=\"https:\/\/sites.rutgers.edu\/nurture-nj\/resources\/\">evaluation\u2019s publications,<\/a> for both the citizens of New Jersey and anyone interested in learning about the progress Nurture NJ has made toward its goals.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;
