{"id":122,"date":"2019-10-02T09:32:51","date_gmt":"2019-10-02T09:32:51","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/sites.rutgers.edu\/department-of-example\/?page_id=122"},"modified":"2020-02-20T15:05:24","modified_gmt":"2020-02-20T15:05:24","slug":"projects-affiliations","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/sites.rutgers.edu\/nutrientlab\/projects-affiliations\/","title":{"rendered":"Projects"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>February 2020:<\/strong>\u00a0 Beginning support for Ben Diaz, a microbiology graduate student with <a href=\"https:\/\/marine.rutgers.edu\/announcements\/kay-bidle-promoted-to-full-professor\/\">Dr. Kay Bidle<\/a> (<a href=\"https:\/\/marine.rutgers.edu\/\">Rutgers DMCS<\/a>).\u00a0 Ben will be investigating the effects of marine phytoplankton detritus on cloud forming properties of the associated aerosol along with collaborators from NASA, University of Texas, and Scripps Institute of Oceanography.\u00a0 The nutrient lab will help quantify the total organic carbon (TOC) in their samples.<\/p>\n<p><strong>November 20, 2019:<\/strong>\u00a0 The Nutrient Lab begins analyzing water samples in support of a Rutgers Ecology &amp; Evolution project.\u00a0 <a href=\"https:\/\/katedouthatecology.com\/\">PhD candidate Kate Douthat<\/a> is researching the drivers of plant community composition, and plant-water quality relationships, in stormwater detention basins in New Jersey.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ongoing:<\/strong>\u00a0 The Nutrient Laboratory is testing\u00a0for some nutrient analytes in samples obtained from the Southeastern Indian Ocean as part of an NSF funded project entitled, <em>&#8220;Testing fidelity of Nd isotopes as a paleocirculation tracer in the Southeast Indian-Southern Ocean&#8221;<\/em>.\u00a0 Lead researchers include <a href=\"https:\/\/marine.rutgers.edu\/main\/elisabeth-sikes\">Dr. Elisabeth Sikes (Rutgers University DMCS)<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/sols.asu.edu\/hilairy-hartnett\">Dr. Hilairy Hartnett (Arizona State University)<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/basak-clim-chem.weebly.com\/research.html\">Dr. Chandranath Basak (University of Delaware)<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Past 20 Years:<\/strong>\u00a0 The Nutrient Laboratory has served the National Estuarine Research Reserves (NERRs) continues to provide monthly data analyses on water samples taken from the southern coasts of New Jersey. <a href=\"https:\/\/coast.noaa.gov\/nerrs\/\">https:\/\/coast.noaa.gov\/nerrs\/<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>February 2020:\u00a0 Beginning support for Ben Diaz, a microbiology graduate student with Dr. Kay Bidle (Rutgers DMCS).\u00a0 Ben will be investigating the effects of marine phytoplankton detritus on cloud forming &hellip;
