To protect user privacy and ensure appropriate use, the directory is\u00a0<b>password-protected<\/b>\u00a0and access is granted based on user type. To navigate to the database, click on\u00a0<strong>alumni resources &gt; Networking Database<\/strong>, and select the option with your corresponding role (Student\/Alumni\/Faculty).<\/p>\n<p>For\u00a0<strong>students<\/strong>, check PGC announcement\/Canvas page for the password. For\u00a0<strong>alumni<\/strong>\/<strong>faculty<\/strong>, check for an email from yolanda.carden@rutgers.edu for the password.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h1><b>How to Use the Alumni Networking Database<\/b><\/h1>\n<p>This database is intended to support professional networking, mentorship, and career exploration within the Rutgers pharmacy community.<\/p>\n<h2><b>1. Start with Your Goal<\/b><\/h2>\n<p>Before reaching out, identify\u00a0<b>what you\u2019re looking for<\/b>, such as:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Career advice in a specific field of pharmacy<\/li>\n<li>Insights into a particular role, employer, or sector<\/li>\n<li>Mentorship or professional guidance<\/li>\n<li>Informational interviews<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Being clear about your goal will help you identify the most relevant contacts and make your outreach more effective.<\/p>\n<h2><b>2. Review Profiles Carefully<\/b><\/h2>\n<p>Before contacting someone, take time to read their:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Professional bio<\/li>\n<li>Areas of experience<\/li>\n<li>Preferred way to connect<\/li>\n<li>Contact preferences (e.g., students, alumni, or both)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Only reach out if they have indicated they are\u00a0<b>open to being contacted by your group<\/b>.<\/p>\n<p><b>Example<\/b>:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>This alumni specified to message them on LinkedIn before contacting them!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><b>4. Choose the Appropriate Method of Contact<\/b><\/h2>\n<p>Respect the individual\u2019s stated preferences:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Use\u00a0<b>email<\/b>\u00a0if email is listed as a preferred method<\/li>\n<li>Use\u00a0<b>LinkedIn<\/b>\u00a0only if LinkedIn outreach is welcomed<\/li>\n<li>Avoid using personal contact information in ways not specified<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Do not contact alumni through channels they have not approved.<\/p>\n<h2><b>5. Craft a Professional and Personalized Message<\/b><\/h2>\n<p>When reaching out:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Introduce yourself clearly (name, program, graduation year if applicable)<\/li>\n<li>Explain how you found them through the database<\/li>\n<li>Mention a specific aspect of their background that interested you<\/li>\n<li>State your purpose concisely<\/li>\n<li>Be respectful of their time<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Keep messages professional, polite, and brief.<\/p>\n<h2><b>6.
