Join Photovoice to learn about the expressive, technical and ethical aspects of photography. Each workshop group will discuss and decide together on a broad theme or question related to LGBTQ+ lived experience, and make photographs to explore it. After several workshop sessions, you may choose to show your photographs as part of an online or in-person exhibition.

No photography experience is necessary. Cameras will be supplied and phone cameras may be used. Workshop groups will meet once a week for 2 hours, for 7 weeks.   

To participate, you must:

  • be 18+ years of age
  • identify as LGBTQ+
  • live with, be affected by, or consider yourself vulnerable to HIV

Total time commitment is up to 18 hours over up to 11 weeks. Earn up to $216.

Research project title: Evaluating a Photovoice Program

Type and purpose: This is a randomized research study measuring effects of the program on stigma. 

All participants will complete three surveys.

This program is facilitated by Rutgers University and The North Jersey Community Research Initiative (NJCRI).
