AmeriCorps is the federal agency for national service and volunteerism, providing opportunities for Americans to serve their country domestically, address the nation’s most pressing challenges, improve lives and communities, and strengthen civic engagement. Over 1 million Americans have served through AmeriCorps, meaning that you will join a large network of people who committed a year to service and who recognize the value of contributing to their community.
As a member, you will receive a small living allowance, supporting you as you engage in service. Our 100-hour members receive $1,100 and 300-hour members receive $3,300.
In addition, upon completion of your term of service, you receive an Eli Segal Education Award (100-hour: $416; 300-hour: $1565).
During your term of service, you may also choose to have your student loans placed on deferment and the National Service Trust will pay your interest accrual during your service.
We also provide members with t-shirts, water bottles, canvas tote bags, and graduating seniors receive a stole to wear at commencement.

Yes! We offer two kinds of slots: 100-hour and 300-hour. Members at the 100-hour level receive a biweekly living allowance totaling $1100 divided across your term of service as laid out in a contract. The 300-hour level has a living allowance of $3300.
In addition, you will receive an educational award once you complete your term of service.

Our opportunities are available to all. But we are an educational institution and, for students, we align the enrollment period with a semester.
We offer semester-long 100-hour and 300-hour options. We also offer a year-long 300-hour option.
For the 100-hour member, you complete approximately 6-8 hours per week for 14 weeks plus about 2 hours per week of training activities. For example, students in the Community Health Nursing class can enroll in this option as part of their class, completing the service in community clinics and receiving training through their theory course.
For a 300-hour semester-long option, you would serve about 16-20 hours per week for 14 weeks plus about 5 hours of training per week. This option is great for students seeking internships in the Public Health field that might otherwise be unpaid. We can discuss your requirements and identify a site that would supervise your work.
For the year-long option, you would serve about 7-10 hours per week for 32 weeks plus about 2 hours per week of training activities. This option is great for supporting afterschool programs and other community settings throughout the year while receiving some financial support.
