Welcome to the Qasim Lab!

We use direct-brain recordings in neurosurgical patients to link the activity of cells and circuits in the human brain to the computations that enable us to think, plan, choose, feel, and remember. We hope to identify how the brain enables all of these complicated aspects of human cognition, how it weaves them together, and how it sometimes goes awry in neurocognitive and psychiatric disorders. Doing so requires that we apply a variety of techniques from cognitive science, psychology, neuroscience, engineering, and statistics.
