The Neurosurgical department has a full-time neurosurgical laboratory in addition to specialty labs in Traumatic Brain Injury, Spine Biomechanics, Spinal Cord Injury, and Cerebrovascular Computational studies. The lab is renowned for its investigation of the role of neurotransmitters in the autonomic nervous system and in central regulatory mechanisms.

Residents are encouraged to participate in ongoing laboratory and clinical research throughout their training with their PGY5 year dedicated to research and/or an enfolded fellowship in the area of their choosing. Residents in our program have also taken advantage of the PGY5 year to attain advanced degrees such as a MPH.
