The Full-Time MBA Immersive Orientation formally known as the Co-Curricular Experience

0-credit bearing, mandatory for first-year FT MBA students and a graduation requirement.

Course Overview: The First-year Orientation Immersion Experience is a first-year graduate-level Orientation beginning at Orientation in August designed to allow MBA students to develop critical business competencies. The Orientation is designed to be interactive, allowing students to apply what they learn to real-world situations. By the end of the course, students will have a solid foundation in data analytics and visualization, sales, presentation skills, Excel, Tableau, Montecarlo Simulation, leadership proficiency, and networking skills. Consequently, the Orientation aims to develop the student professionally with the qualities and skills needed for a successful business career.

Four sessions will be held in the Fall semester and four in the Spring semester of the first year of the MBA program. Each section will be 90-120 minutes long, depending on student engagement and questions.
Day and Time: Various days and times in-person or online that will not conflict with your coursework.

This course will be added to your transcript during your second semester and is required for graduation. Students are expected to attend and be engaged during class sessions.

Fall Semester Classes:

Session 1: Mr. Rushab Kamdar & Marc Limata on Executive Leadership (ThinkBusiness360) Oct. 1 – 10:00-1:00 pm

Session 2: Case Competition Kick-off with Marc Limata Oct. 1 –  2:00-4:00 pm

Session 3: Emotional Intelligence Leadership in the Workplace with Marc Limata TBA

Session 4: Tableau Workshops with Professor Ryan (online, December, TBA on a Tuesday)

Session 5: Marketing Masterclass to be announced!

The MBA Enhancement Modules are also required for this Orientation by Dec. 15th.

Calc and Stat Modules are also due by Dec. 15th and are a separate graduation requirement, and required for your spring coursework.

2. Attend Eight Sessions Throughout the Fall & Spring Semesters of Your First Year

Attend each of the four scheduled sessions each semester (fall and spring).

Tips to succeed:
Prepare for each session by completing any required readings or assignments.
Engage actively in discussions and activities.

3. Complete Your Two Modules on Coursera

Intro to Business
Enroll in and complete the modules.

Communications Strategies
Enroll in and complete the modules.

Submit completion certificates or proof of completion to mba@business.rutgers.edu by Dec. 15th.
