0-credit bearing, mandatory for first-year FT MBA students

Course Overview: The First-year Experience class is a first-year graduate-level course beginning at Orientation designed to allow MBA students to develop critical business competencies. The course is designed to be interactive, allowing students to apply what they learn to real-world situations. By the end of the course, students will have a solid foundation in data analytics and visualization, sales, presentation skills, Excel, Tableau, Montecarlo Simulation, leadership proficiency, and networking skills. Consequently, the course aims to develop the student professionally with the qualities and skills needed for a successful business career.

Five sessions will be held in the Fall semester and four in the Spring semester of the first year of the MBA program. Each section will be 90-120 minutes long, depending on student engagement and questions.
Day and Time: Various days and times in-person or online that will not conflict with your coursework.

This course will be added to your transcript during your second semester and is required for graduation. Students are expected to attend and be engaged during class sessions.

Fall Semester Classes:

Session 2: Sept. 11, 11:30 to 1 pm, Case Competition Kick-off with Mr. Joe Slota & Marc Limata. RM 608.

Session 3: October 9 11:30 to 1 pm with Joe Slota and Marc Limata on Professional Communication and Case Competitions

Session 4: Emotional Intelligence Leadership in the Workplace with Marc Limata (online, Oct. 27)

Sessions 5 & 6: Tableau Workshops with Professor Ryan (online, November)
