Your academic journey is about more than grades — it’s about showing up as your whole self. Mental health and well-being are foundational to your success as a student, a professional, and a person. Stress, anxiety, and personal challenges are a normal part of life, but you don’t have to navigate them alone. Seeking support is a sign of strength, and the resources available to you are here to help you thrive.

At Rutgers University–Newark, your mental health is a priority. The Rutgers University-Newark Counseling Center is committed to the mental health and well-being of all members of the university community, striving to foster a culture of care, wellness, and acceptance for all.

All services are free, voluntary, and confidential, available to every Rutgers Newark student. The center’s licensed clinicians offer short-term assessment, individual counseling, group therapy, medication management, substance use recovery support, and psychoeducational workshops — delivered through both in-person and telehealth options.

Your visit to the Counseling Center will not appear on your academic record, and all information shared is kept strictly confidential. If you are concerned about a fellow student, the team is also available to consult with peers, faculty, and staff.
