Welcome!

The Rutgers Coastal Communities Adaptation Lab (CCAL) is housed within the Rutgers School of Environmental and Biological Sciences’ Department of Human Ecology

We seek to identify opportunities for co-producing solutions for climate adaptation among coastal households. Our research efforts are driven by four key objectives:

  1. Identify how Coastal communities are dealing with and perceive climate related threats in both rural and urban landscapes.
  2. Work with and support local communities in developing adaptation solutions to environmental change.
  3. Provide recommendations and transition findings into policy
  4. Train students in coastal community adaptation and social science techniques to develop a skillset in just and equitable research.

Our key collaborations and partnerships include the Megapolitan Coastal Transformation Hub (MACH) and the Rutgers Climate and Energy Institute (RCEI.
