The Department of Environmental Sciences (DES) at Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey, New Brunswick, NJ invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Extension Specialist in Climate Change Resiliency.<\/strong><\/p>\n A faculty member is sought who performs research and extension outreach related to climate and weather, climate change and climate change impacts, adaptation, and resiliency. Areas of interest are climatic effects on urban infrastructure and environmental justice communities, agriculture, and coastal challenges, and related topics relevant to New Jersey.<\/p>\n The successful candidate is expected to (1) develop an innovative, externally-funded, and nationally recognized extension and research program as part of the New Jersey Agricultural Experiment Station (NJAES) and the School of Environmental and Biological Sciences (SEBS), (2) engage in robust community outreach with diverse stakeholders from urban to suburban to agricultural clientele, with an emphasis on equitable solutions to climate change, through the NJAES system, (3) serve as the Assistant NJ State Climatologist, (4) teach courses in the undergraduate Meteorology and graduate Atmospheric Science academic programs in the Department of Environmental Sciences, (5) supervise student weather observers and (6) perform service to the department, NJAES, SEBS, university and state.<\/p>\n Rutgers-New Brunswick hosts one of the most diverse student bodies in the United States.
