Vision

The Rutgers Center for Whole Person Health (RWPH) pursues a vision of human flourishing where every human being has the opportunity and resources to thrive. Whole person health and whole community health, grounded in the understanding that mind, body and spirit are interconnected aspects of our holistic well-being, are cornerstones upon which this vision is possible, and the outgrowth of this vision being realized.

Mission

RWPH seeks to enable whole person health through the conduct of rigorous, interdisciplinary person- and community-centered scientific research and academic training, as well as the translation of study findings and educational training efforts into public health and clinical practice. Our work focuses on how social-structural, environmental, behavioral and biological processes come together and interact to shape multiple health outcomes, with a particular emphasis on the role of mindfulness and social connectedness to improve individual and community mental and physical health. The Center also aims to create and sustain a supportive and collaborative network of scholars and trainees both within and beyond Rutgers University.
