New publication – Beyond IQ: executive function deficits and their relation to functional, clinical, and neuroimaging outcomes in 3q29 deletion syndrome

Our study “Beyond IQ: executive function deficits and their relation to functional, clinical, and neuroimaging outcomes in 3q29 deletion syndrome” is now published in Psychological Medicine! In this paper we analyzed data from the Behavior Rating Inventory of Executive Function (BRIEF) from a cohort of individuals with 3q29 deletion syndrome. We identified significant deficits in executive function ability in study participants with 3q29 deletion syndrome. We also found that executive function ability had significant relationships with other clinical measures, including measures of psychosis-related symptoms. These results expand our understanding of the cognitive phenotype of 3q29 deletion syndrome, and highlight the central role of executive function in multiple associated psychiatric comorbidities in this population.
