Presentation Types
There will be two main types of presentations at this conference:
Deep Dive Sessions
The Deep Dive sessions will be 40-minute interactive workshop- or discussion-based sessions on the proposed topic. These sessions will allow the presenter to showcase their experience and expertise on the topic and provide attendees with both the opportunity to get their questions answered and leave with a concrete way they can apply this knowledge in their own teaching environments. The set of Deep Dive sessions will start with each session leader giving a 2–3-minute pitch for what they will be talking about in their session, followed by two 40-minute blocks of time for attendees to visit two of the sessions. As a presenter, you will be responsible for running your workshop/discussion twice for two different sets of attendees.
Concurrent Sessions
The Concurrent Sessions will be sets of approximately 20-minute talks with a few minutes for questions at the end. These presentations can be on any topic related to teaching undergraduate mathematics, including innovations or changes made in your teaching, reviews of research on education, and completed or in-progress studies on student learning. Talks do not need to be research-based (although sources can be very helpful), but should tie into either classroom or program-level goals of improving the undergraduate learning experience in mathematics, or address ways of improving the instructor experience with teaching undergraduate mathematics.
If you would like to be considered for one of the Deep Dive sessions, fill out the Abstract Submission form with your pitch and send an email to charnley (at) math (dot) rutgers (dot) edu indicating your interest. You can also fill out the contact form on the Contact Us page. We will get back to you with more details and potential options for moving forward.
