Mission<\/h2>\n

The mission of the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School Chapter of the Association of Women Surgeons is to inspire, encourage, and enable aspiring female surgeons to achieve their personal and professional goals. Lectures and panel discussions are held throughout the year for students to discuss topics in surgery, such as academic leadership, research, family planning, and pay and promotion equality. Students are invited to participate in research, mentoring, and shadowing with attending and resident surgeons. As a national organization, there are opportunities to publish and present research across the country and find mentors beyond our health care network.<\/p>\n

Goals of Our Chapter<\/h2>\n
    \n
  1. Promote awareness of the professional resources provided by the organization.<\/li>\n
  2. Provide valuable programming to the RWJMS student population<\/li>\n
  3. Work with local surgeons at our school and in the state<\/li>\n
  4. Promote the professional experience of all those interested in surgery<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    We have coordinated a number of lectures on surgical topics as well as hosted technical skills workshops. We aim to enrich the lives of the students at RWJMS with programming focused on networking and surgical education, preparing those interested for a career in a specialized field.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
