Pandemileri Yeniden Düşünmek: Osmanlı’dan Küresel Tarihe Yeni Perspektifler
On March 9, 2026, Dr. Nükhet Varlık, Principal Investigator of the SHIFA-ANA Project, delivered a talk titled ““Rethinking Pandemics: New Perspectives from the Ottoman Empire to Global History” at Sevgi Soysal Library in Taksim, as part of the Direnen Akademi lecture series.
The talk offered new perspectives on how pandemics can be understood beyond biological crises, addressing how past epidemics are interpreted and how pandemic histories can be written in more nuanced and connected ways.
The event was moderated by Dr. Zeynep Akçakaya (SHIFA-ANA) and brought together an engaged audience for a lively and thought-provoking discussion.
