SHIFA-ANA Workshop Participant Group Photo

The team at SHIFA-ANA is proud to announce the success of our first workshop on death and disease in Anatolia at ANAMED, Istanbul! The three day workshop from June 11-13 provided an enriching and engaging experience where scholars and researchers came together to explore developing scholarship in the field. We express our deepest gratitude to our incredible participants and sponsors from around the globe, without whom the workshop would not have been possible! Thank you to all of our speakers who provided invaluable insight for our audience. The sessions featured thought-provoking presentations, dynamic discussions, and valuable networking opportunities that fostered meaningful academic exchange and collaboration.

The workshop consisted of three days of lively conversation and rigorous academic debate. Beginning with our very own Dr. Nükhet Varlık’s keynote lecture, and continuing the following day with discussion on topics from necrogeographics and necropolitics to discussing what it means to engage in public health and study states of vulnerability, our workshop was able to cover several topics over the course of ten panels.
