{"id":626,"date":"2020-09-23T15:01:57","date_gmt":"2020-09-23T15:01:57","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/sites.rutgers.edu\/sn-eof\/?page_id=626"},"modified":"2026-02-09T16:05:18","modified_gmt":"2026-02-09T16:05:18","slug":"pre-junior-enrichment-program","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/sites.rutgers.edu\/sn-eof\/pre-junior-enrichment-program\/","title":{"rendered":"Pre-Junior Enrichment Program"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">The <\/span><strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Pre-Junior Enrichment Program<\/span><\/strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> is a six-week introductory summer course designed to prepare rising junior nursing students for success in upper-level nursing coursework, including classroom instruction, lab practice, and hospital \u201csimulation\u201d experiences.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">This program equips students with essential cognitive and practical nursing skills, building a strong theoretical and clinical foundation for high-quality nursing practice.<\/span><\/p>\n<h4><strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Program Overview<\/span><\/strong><\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li><strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Duration:<\/span><\/strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> 6 Weeks<\/span><\/li>\n<li><strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Dates: <\/span><\/strong>Summer 2026 (June 29th \u2013 August 5th)<\/li>\n<li><strong>Move in dates:<\/strong> TBA<\/li>\n<li><strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Location:<\/span><\/strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> Rutgers School of Nursing \u2013 <\/span>Newark Campus\n<ul>\n<li><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Lecture Hall<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Skills Practice Labs<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Simulation Lab<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4><strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Program Goals<\/span><\/strong><\/h4>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">The primary objective is to enhance student confidence, competence, and clinical judgment as they transition into the upper-division nursing program.<\/span><\/p>\n<h4><strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Learning Objectives<\/span><\/strong><\/h4>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">By the end of the Pre-Junior Enrichment Program, students will be able to:<\/span><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Demonstrate knowledge of Nursing\u2019s Code of Ethics and uphold patient rights and confidentiality.<\/li>\n<li>Understand and articulate the importance of client safety in all care settings.<\/li>\n<li>Exhibit effective and therapeutic communication techniques.<\/li>\n<li>Perform a basic health assessment competently.<\/li>\n<li>Accurately obtain and document vital signs.<\/li>\n<li>Calculate medication dosages and administer medications safely.<\/li>\n<li>Apply proper body mechanics to transfer patients safely.<\/li>\n<li>Assist with a patient\u2019s Activities of Daily Living (ADLs).<\/li>\n<li>Demonstrate proper infection control procedures, including handwashing and sterile glove donning.<\/li>\n<li>Develop an individualized nursing care plan and deliver a concise patient report.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h4><strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Eligibility &amp;
