The Rutgers School of Nursing\u2013Camden Primary Care Nurse Practitioner Residency Program gives new graduate nurse practitioners a structured, twelve-month transition into primary care practice. Launched in 2023 in partnership with CompleteCare Health Network and funded by the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), the program prepares nurse practitioners to care for patients in medically underserved communities across southern New Jersey.<\/p>\n

Why a Residency?<\/h2>\n

\n

Demand for primary care continues to outpace the supply of new clinicians, and the gap is widest in the rural and urban communities that need care most. The first year of practice is also the most demanding for new nurse practitioners.<\/p>\n

A residency bridges that gap with mentorship, structured learning, and time to build confidence managing complex patients, so new graduates can grow into independent practice with support.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Our Residents<\/h2>\n

Each cohort includes four residents, a mix of family and adult-gerontology primary care nurse practitioners. The small cohort allows for individualized mentorship and a close peer community throughout the year.<\/p>\n
