Weiss, MD is a tenured, full-time Professor of Medicine at the Rutgers New Jersey Medical School in Newark, New Jersey, USA. A brief bio for him is <a href=\"http:\/\/sites.rutgers.edu\/stanley-weiss\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/588\/2021\/01\/Stanley-H-Weiss-brief-bio-overview-v2020Nov18.pdf\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">posted here<\/a>. (Dr. Weiss is also a professor of Biostatistics and Epidemiology at the Rutgers School of Public Health, and an Associate of the Rutgers Cancer Institute of NJ.)<\/p>\n<p>As of April 2021, Dr. Weiss and his team now have several open positions available. The research supported by this grant is part of Dr. Weiss\u2019s larger epidemiological program, begun in the mid-1980s, studying long-term prospective cohorts of persons with a history of drug abuse. An overview of these cohort studies (written before we received the aforementioned R01 grant) is <a href=\"http:\/\/sites.rutgers.edu\/stanley-weiss\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/588\/2022\/02\/OVERVIEW-of-the-WEISS-COHORT-STUDIES-2022Feb24.pdf\">posted here<\/a>. We also have several newer initiatives involving drug users, many with policy implications. We are now in the third year of a five-year non-competitive renewal cycle (and have already been asked to apply for the next continuation year).<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/sites.rutgers.edu\/stanley-weiss\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/588\/2021\/05\/EPWC-Public-Health-Rep-II-job-description-v2021May05.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Public Health Representative II<\/a> position is to coordinate activities of the\u00a0<u><a href=\"http:\/\/web.njms.rutgers.edu\/EPWC\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Essex-Passaic Wellness Coalition<\/a><\/u>, a bi-county chronic disease coalition, now in its 16th continuous year, and is funded by a grant (awarded annually) from the New Jersey Department of Health.<\/p>\n<p>In anticipation of increasing levels of Covid-19 vaccination that will facilitate return to work, plus our need to work closely together and with our many partners, in-person work is anticipated (not virtual).
