Noncredit education and non-degree credentials have become highly popular in community colleges. This project, funded by the National Center for Science and Engineering Statistics (NCSES) within the National Science Foundation (NSF) and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation will examine data from such programs to increase our understanding of the value and quality of noncredit education and non-degree credentials.

The project will lay the groundwork for a common definitional language that can be used for future data collection efforts on noncredit programs and non-degree credentials. The research will be conducted by the Rutgers Education & Employment Research Center (EERC) and our state partners in community college systems in Iowa, Louisiana and Virginia.

As part of this project, EERC will work with our state partners to create a Learning Community dedicated to building the data infrastructure on noncredit education and non-degree credentials.
