Our unexpected stay in Germany gave the class an opportunity to explore the city of Frankfurt. I was able to see the beautiful architecture of Römerberg, the historical market square. Through exploring the city, I saw various Frankfurt businesses, historical buildings, and residential areas. My favorite site was the Cathedral of St. Bartholomew, where I learned that on March 18 and 22, 1944, the city was bombed by Allied forces. Yet, the Cathedral suffered only minor damages. In this limited time, I was glad to learn about Frankfurt and observe German life, which can be used for comparison to my future experiences in Poland.
