Rutgers Dialing Instructions

As the university moves to a unified VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) phone system from Cisco 5 digit dialing is available on each campus.

Rutgers University–New Brunswick

5 digit dial is available between the 848-932, 445, & 267 telephone exchanges. 5 digit dial patterns for the three exchanges are 2-xxxx, 5-xxxx or 7-xxxx.

Rutgers University–Newark

5 digit dial is available between all phones on the Newark Campus in the 973-353 telephone exchange by dialing 3-xxxx.

Rutgers University–Camden

5 digit dial is available between all phones on the Rutgers Camden Campus in the 856-225 telephone exchange by dialing 5-xxxx.

Rutgers Biomedical and Health Sciences–UH / UBHC / CAB / MEB / CINJ / Newark

5 digit dial is available for RBHS Campuses between the 732-235  and 973-972 telephone exchanges. 5 digit dial patterns for these two exchanges are 5-xxxx or 2-xxxx.

Rutgers University–Athletics

5 digit dial is available for all Rutgers Athletics phones in the 732-445 telephone exchange by dialing 5-xxxx.

Please NOTE:

As the University has expanded over the years we have had to add 848-267-xxxx as a new telephone exchange to increase the number of available telephone numbers.

Calls between the New Brunswick area Campuses, Newark Campus, Camden Campus, and RBHS will require that you dial your access code i.e. 8 or 9 followed by 1+ the 10 digit telephone number call between the different telephone exchanges.

If you are having dialing problems, please submit a service and support request here.
