Ping-Hsin Chen, PhD

Professor

Dr. Chen has over 20 years of extensive experience in violence research, prevention education, and intervention programs. She is a certified domestic violence (DV) advocate approved by the New Jersey Association of Domestic Violence Professionals (NJADVP) and a committee member of the University Hospital Coalition to End Abuse in Newark, New Jersey. Her experience includes, but is not limited to, conducting provider training and patient education, intervention programs, and research in health care settings. Currently, she provides leadership for the Community Engaged Service Learning (CESL) projects and directs the Domestic Violence Intervention Program under CESL at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School (NJMS). She has also been a Principal Investigator and a Co-Principal Investigator on several federal, state, and foundation-funded studies on gun violence prevention, DV screening and intervention in clinical settings, health consequences of DV, elder abuse, and child abuse, and health disparities related to DV.
