Vision<\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"row\">\n<div class=\"col-sm-12\">\n<p>\u200b\u200bLooking forward, there is an urgent need to screen patients for firearms at home similar to clinical guidelines with suicidal ideation, IPV, and youth violence.\u00a0 There is also a need to train healthcare professionals regarding patient gun safety and preventing gun violence in the community.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div class=\"col-sm-12\">\n<h3>History<\/h3>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/sites.rutgers.edu\/voice\/voice-program-2023\/\">VOICE Program 2023<\/a><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Created a VOICE Program website to increase accessibility for the local medical community and make our content enduring<\/li>\n<li>Tailored and implemented a hybrid VOICE Program for UH and NJMS staff<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/sites.rutgers.edu\/voice\/voice-program-2022\/\">VOICE Program 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Engaged in a learning collaboration of community workers and healthcare providers to promote gun violence prevention and intervention<\/li>\n<li>Tailored and delivered the validated violence prevention curriculum for community and hospital partners<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/sites.rutgers.edu\/voice\/voice-program-2021\/\">VOICE Program 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Used feedback from community stakeholders to develop animated educational videos based on the preliminary study in 2020<\/li>\n<li>Developed pre- and post-evaluation surveys on Research Data Capture and Management (RedCap) using validated questions from the literature<\/li>\n<li>Pilot-tested with 110+ respondents including peers and Newark community members<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/sites.rutgers.edu\/voice\/voice-program-2020\/\">VOICE Program 2020<\/a><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Identified the major risk factors and consequences of gun violence<\/li>\n<li>Conducted a literature review on gun violence prevention and intervention<\/li>\n<li>Recorded virtual educational PowerPoint presentations for various populations<\/li>\n<li>Pilot-tested with 150+ respondents.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/sites.rutgers.edu\/voice\/voice-program-2019\/\">VOICE Program 2019<\/a><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Used the National Violent Death Reporting System (NVDRS) data to explore risk factors for firearm death<\/li>\n<li>Developed a collaborative violence prevention program among community and hospital partne<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In 2019, we initiated the VOICE Program with the following objectives in mind: To stratify demographics at risk in gun-related homicides Determine circumstances that raise the risk of gun-related homicides &hellip;
