Webex account eligibility


Members of Rutgers University are eligible for a Webex account. Webex licenses will differ for an individual depending on their role with the university. Please find the role most appropriate to you to find more information on the Webex account that you have access to. 

RoleLicense Information
Faculty/StaffAll faculty and staff are eligible to activate a Webex personal account. Personal accounts for faculty and staff will include the following features by default:
  • A personal account is a licensed account capable of hosting meetings.
    • Note: Personal accounts that have not hosted meetings recently enough will be deactivated to manage license costs.
  • Faculty and Staff will be licensed in a manner that provides PSTN phone bridge capabilities.
  • During the activation process, faculty/staff will be automatically provisioned a Webex Meeting Center license
  • Faculty/Staff can reach out to their Rutgers Connect domain admin to be additionally provisioned with Training center and Webinar center licenses.
  • All faculty/staff will have 25GB of storage space for recordings in the cloud.
StudentsAll students are eligible to activate a Webex personal account. Personal accounts for students will include the following features by default:
  • A personal account is a licensed account capable of hosting meetings.
    • Note: Personal accounts that have not hosted meetings recently enough will be deactivated to manage license costs.
  • Students will be licensed in a manner that does not provide PSTN features. They will have VOIP capability only for audio participation.
  • During the activation process, students will be automatically provisioned a Webex Meeting Center license
  • All students will have 25BG of storage space for recordings in the cloud.

Guests

Rutgers guests are eligible to activate a Webex personal account; however, they cannot be self-provisioned. Guests who are interested in activating a Webex account should speak to their local Rutgers Connect Domain Administrator.

A Webex personal account for guests will include the following capabilities:

  • A personal account is a licensed account capable of hosting meetings.
  • Personal accounts that have not hosted meetings recently enough will be deactivated to manage license costs.
  • Guests will be licensed in a manner that provides PSTN phone bridge capabilities.
  • The default license assigned to guests will be a Webex Meeting Center license
  • Guests can reach out to their Rutgers Connect domain admin to be additionally provisioned with Training center and Webinar center licenses.
  • All guests will have 25GB of storage space for recordings in the cloud.
