Moonochrome
Jarrielle Cabalfin
i just ate the moon
excuse my language
but it was freaking
out of this world
her eyes tasted
like the tide
red and purple
and slightly artificial
her tears were salty
and her cheeks
were sweet like
plastic candy apples
under her waxing
was smooth, smooth cheese
comfort food astronified
not to be cheesy but
i’m glad i’m stuck here.
i hear her voice:
You can’t leave?
i look down at earth:
no i cannot.
i lost my train of thought.
Where did you leave it?
i don’t know. i probably
left it in the sun.
i’ve been traveling
light-years for miles
on this outerspace railroad
the tracks are silks
and the stars mock me
when i say i
particularly liked uranus.
the lunar mosaic tasted
like iced tea with
dew dripping down
the sides; i live
in a blue moon
i can’t leave so i’m
left to watch the sea.
