{"id":2365,"date":"2021-11-17T03:52:51","date_gmt":"2021-11-17T03:52:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sites.rutgers.edu\/writers-house-review\/?page_id=2365"},"modified":"2021-11-17T04:08:03","modified_gmt":"2021-11-17T04:08:03","slug":"numb","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/sites.rutgers.edu\/writers-house-review\/volume-2-fall-2021\/numb\/","title":{"rendered":"Numb"},"content":{"rendered":"<hr \/>\n<h4><em>Krithika Patrachari<\/em><\/h4>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>I don&#8217;t feel heavy anymore<\/p>\n<p>But I don\u2019t feel light either<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>I feel like static on a TV<\/p>\n<p>Like there is so much noise but none at all<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>I feel lost<\/p>\n<p>But I don\u2019t have anywhere to call home<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>I feel like the color grey<\/p>\n<p>Like I can\u2019t identify with black or white<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>I feel sun beating on my face<\/p>\n<p>But I don\u2019t close my eyes and marvel at the colors<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>I feel like Wednesday<\/p>\n<p>Like it&#8217;s too late to mourn last weekend and too early to await the next<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>I feel tired<\/p>\n<p>But my eyes are too awake<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>I feel like a loose plug just before it falls<\/p>\n<p>Like I am destined to fall but can hold on a bit longer<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>I feel alive<\/p>\n<p>But only because my heart is still beating<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>I feel<\/p>\n<p>But I don\u2019t feel either<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>I guess this is what numbness <em>feels<\/em> like<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Krithika Patrachari<\/strong> is a sophomore at Rutgers University, graduating in 2024. She is working towards a major in Civil Engineering and a minor in Philosophy.
