Samantha Artuso<\/em><\/h4>\n

 <\/p>\n

October 2nd<\/sup>, 3:57 p.m.<\/strong><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

It\u2019s damp inside the NJ transit tunnel.<\/p>\n

A guy named Frank holds up<\/p>\n

a piece of cardboard.<\/p>\n

\u201cHomeless,<\/p>\n

please help<\/p>\n

God Bless.\u201d<\/p>\n

I have two dollars and seventy cents,<\/p>\n

change from buying a coffee at the Dunkin\u2019 on the corner.<\/p>\n

Hot coffee with caramel and cream.<\/p>\n

I put the change down next to him,<\/p>\n

don\u2019t look at his face.<\/p>\n

I\u2019m going to miss the train.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s colder inside the metal capsule of 3:57 p.m.<\/p>\n

than it is outside.<\/p>\n

I think it\u2019s going south toward Philly,<\/p>\n

or north toward the city\u2026<\/p>\n

I\u2019m really not sure.<\/p>\n

\n

 <\/p>\n

Holy Sin<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

And her love is a sacrament,<\/p>\n

ordained upon her lips.<\/p>\n

Then, I knew I found religion\u2013<\/p>\n

there, on her fingertips.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

She would whisper prayers in my ear,<\/p>\n

in her voice, a sweet hymn.<\/p>\n

In her bed we built an Eden,<\/p>\n

although not free of sin.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

A rosary around her throat<\/p>\n

left burn marks on her skin.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf love\u2019s a sin, I\u2019m a sinner.<\/p>\n

With you, I\u2019ve always been.\u201d<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Her eyes shone with Holy Water\u2013<\/p>\n

I wish I could repent\u2013<\/p>\n

so we held each other tighter<\/p>\n

as our Eden came and went.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Samantha Artuso<\/strong> is a junior in the School of Arts and Sciences majoring in Biological Sciences and minoring in Spanish. She plans on attending Veterinary School upon graduation with the hopes of opening her own domestic and exotic pets practice in the future. Samantha is from Raritan, NJ and loves her three cats at home as well as caramel coffee and playing softball with the Rutgers Club Softball team.<\/p>\n
