bear to be<\/span><\/p>\n

narrowed\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

into a<\/span><\/p>\n

word<\/span><\/p>\n

or a few,<\/span><\/p>\n

or even<\/span><\/p>\n

a river<\/span><\/p>\n

of novels<\/span><\/p>\n

detailing\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

the depths<\/span><\/p>\n

of my waters<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

i cannot reduce\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

a sunlit moment<\/span><\/p>\n

of green leaves<\/span><\/p>\n

coated in gold<\/span><\/p>\n

into a polaroid pinned<\/span><\/p>\n

to the wall, or shrivel<\/span><\/p>\n

my ever-growing<\/span><\/p>\n

branches into an\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

enclosed park<\/span><\/p>\n

named after the<\/span><\/p>\n

man who\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

designed it<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

or a laugh<\/span><\/p>\n

into a smile,<\/span><\/p>\n

or trust into<\/span><\/p>\n

a spoken promise,<\/span><\/p>\n

nor shrink these<\/span><\/p>\n

confessions\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

into a poem.<\/span><\/p>\n

Olivia McArtney<\/strong> writes, “Hi! I\u2019m Olivia McArtney, a student at Rutgers expected to graduate in 2024. I\u2019m from Long Valley, NJ. My poetry is inspired by the contrast between the simple beauty of nature and the complexity of the human experience.”\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
