When you were eight and a half.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Please believe me when I tell you\u2014<\/span><\/p>\n

I do want to hear about how the rain doesn\u2019t\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Cause any pain to the corn plants\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

You\u2019ve been growing in tiny pots<\/span><\/p>\n

Since November of fifth grade,\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

And how starkly adamant you were that<\/span><\/p>\n

Nobody should over-water them.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

I\u2019ll learn the name of your imaginary friend\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Who never got her start,\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

And now hides in the basement of your father\u2019s house\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

With a pink sequined safe-box\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

And guards your old, bleeding heart.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

And as she is in your mind,<\/span><\/p>\n

Do not worry about the stench<\/span><\/p>\n

That your idle friend\u2019s corpse may cause.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Do tell me about that sunset,\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

But I cannot,\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

I will not,\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Hear you apologize.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
