 <\/p>\n

I divide realms<\/span><\/p>\n

Two separate worlds<\/span><\/p>\n

The vibrant green trees swaying in the breeze<\/span><\/p>\n

Or the slightly outdated master bedroom<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

A portal made of glass<\/span><\/p>\n

From the outside world\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

To the inside<\/span><\/p>\n

Or vice versa<\/span><\/p>\n

Whichever way you prefer<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

My presence can change an environment<\/span><\/p>\n

A subtle reminder to those around me<\/span><\/p>\n

Preserving everyone\u2019s circadian rhythm<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

I am for the most part unseen<\/span><\/p>\n

Only looked through with blank stares<\/span><\/p>\n

Only really noticed when dirty<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Windex, my close friend,\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Rids me of grime and smudges<\/span><\/p>\n

Clearing my vision\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Like a new prescription for glasses<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Occasionally I will be struck with an object<\/span><\/p>\n

I am usually up to the task<\/span><\/p>\n

But there was that one time the neighbor\u2019s baseball hit me<\/span><\/p>\n

That broke my heart<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

I patiently spectate<\/span><\/p>\n

As my surroundings evolve<\/span><\/p>\n

New furniture inside<\/span><\/p>\n

And new flowers planted outside<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

In the winter,<\/span><\/p>\n

Warmth from the fireplace heats me up on one side,\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Contrasted by the whipping winds and frigid snowflakes<\/span><\/p>\n

In the summer,<\/span><\/p>\n

Cold air conditioning keeps me cool,<\/span><\/p>\n

As the scorching sun beats down through me<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The house was bought by a new family<\/span><\/p>\n

As the bulldozer rolls up the driveway<\/span><\/p>\n

I say goodbye to the friendly walls around me<\/span><\/p>\n

And the ever-supporting window frame\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

I feel a drop of rain run down my face<\/span><\/p>\n

Or was that a tear?<\/span><\/p>\n
