This first universitywide survey to assess students\u2019 basic needs insecurities was led by Professors Cara Cuite and Stephanie Brescia with a research team from across all chancellor-led units. It was conducted over a one-month period in fall 2022. The Basic Needs Insecurity Among Rutgers Students: A University Survey<\/a>\u00a0expands on the work of earlier surveys conducted by the same researchers within individual chancellor-led units and provides a more detailed understanding of how basic needs insecurity can affect students and the range of resources and services available to assist students.<\/p>\n

The survey results will help inform continued innovative and coordinated efforts to meet students\u2019 basic needs and share best practices across all chancellor-led units at Rutgers. The Office of the N.J. Secretary of Higher Education provided funding for the survey through its Hunger Free Campus Grants to Rutgers\u2013New Brunswick.<\/p>\n
