Dr. Anita Y. Kinney, PhD, RN, FAAN, FABMR

As Associate Director for Population Science and Community Outreach since 2018, Anita Y. Kinney, PhD, RN, FAAN, FABMR has overall responsibility to plan and evaluate developing and established population-focused Research Programs and represent population science and community outreach and engagement in Center strategic planning. Kinney was recruited by Libutti in July 2018 from the University of New Mexico Comprehensive Cancer Center as Associate Director for Community Outreach, inaugural Director of the CINJ Cancer Health Equity Center of Excellence (CHECoE), Director of ScreenNJ, and Professor of Biostatistics and Epidemiology. Soon after her arrival, her role was expanded to include population science. She is an internationally recognized cancer epidemiologist and behavioral scientist with emphasis on cancer control research among underserved populations. Kinney is a Fellow of the American Academy of Nursing and the Academy of Behavioral Medicine Research. She is a Senior Editor of Cancer Epidemiology, Biomarkers and Prevention and serves on the editorial boards of Cancer Prevention Research and Gene Testing and Molecular Biomarkers. She is a Fellow of the Academy of Behavioral Medicine Research and has served on many national societies, including the American Society of Preventive Oncology (currently President Elect), and Board of Trustees of the Society for Integrative Oncology. Kinney is Chair of the Task Force on Cancer Prevention, Early Detection and Treatment in NJ and a member of the NCI Cancer Centers Study Section (A).
