Welcome to the Amaro Lab webpage!
Who We Are
The Amaro Lab is led by Dr. Christina Amaro at the Rutgers Cancer Institute.
Our lab focuses on the psychosocial well-being of children and adolescents who are diagnosed with cancer or sickle cell disease, as well as their siblings and parents/caregivers. Through the use of qualitative (e.g., semi-structured interviews) and quantitative (e.g., surveys) methods, we seek to understand youth and family’s adjustment to cancer and sickle cell disease and create innovative interventions to support them. We collaborate on research initiatives in pediatric and clinical child psychology.
We are affiliated with the Rutgers Cancer Institute, NJ PHORCE, the Section of Pediatric Population Science, Outcomes, and Disparities Research in the Division of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology, and the Cancer Prevention and Control Research Program.
