Cognition and Learning Center

The Cognition and Learning Center (CALC) is led by Dr. Jenny Jinjing Wang. We study how our mind works and how it develops, such as how we understand concepts like “red,” “friend,” and “42.” Specifically, we are interested in how children construction mathematical thoughts and what intuitive beliefs they have about the world.

Laboratory for Developmental Language Studies

The Laboratory for Developmental Language Studies (LDLS) investigates how children and adults understand language. Specifically, we study how children acquire the meaning of words, how children and adults interpret sentences, and how these two age groups compare with each other.
