Lab Director: Dr. Courtenay Cavanaugh

Focus: The lab conducts research focused on the following: 1) informing, developing, implementing, and evaluating clinical interventions to improve the health of diverse and marginalized women and children affected by interpersonal violence, 2) improving trauma-related intervention implementation, dissemination, and sustainability, & 3) advancing diversity and equity in psychological science

Student Involvement:

  • More than 50 undergraduate and graduate students have participated in this lab.
  • Students typically participate in the lab as part of Independent Study in Psychology where they complete 9 hours of research activities assigned to them weekly in return for 3 credits.
  • Students may gain experience with literature reviews, training in human subjects’ research and ethics, different research study designs, applications for the institutional review board, data collection, statistical analysis, and dissemination of research findings at professional conferences and within peer-reviewed journal articles.
  • Students in this lab have done the following:
    • Presented related research at professional conferences (e.g., Annual Conference on Dissemination and Implementation Science, American Psychological Association, Eastern Psychological Association, International Society for Traumatic Stress Studies, Society for Prevention Research, Violence Prevention Research Conference)
    • Received an award for their conference presentation
    • Received the Dean’s Undergraduate Research Award
    • Received the Bunche Fellowship
    • Co-authored peer-reviewed publications
